A registered member of the Global Geoparks Network, extending from Kyogamisaki Cape, Kyoto Prefecture, to the Hakuto Kaigan coast, Tottori Prefecture, the San’in Kaigan Geopark centers on the San’in Kaigan National Park and is rich in spots of scenic beauty, rock formations, and caves. Excursion boats provide chances to appreciate the powerful scenery from a different vantage point. The limitless other ways to enjoy experiencing nature here include canoeing and snorkeling.

Byobuiwa Rock
It is named Byobuiwa, as the oddly-shaped 13 meters high rock rises like a folding screen. It remains after the grinding down by time and the erosion by waves.

Tateiwa Rock
This rock stands as if proud of its 20 meters height. The massive hill rising on the coast of Japan Sea is a symbol of Tango.

Roadside Station is very near the scenic site, Tateiwa/Tachiiwa. It is the ideal place to look for souvenirs, as it boasts a rich assortment of indigenous products. There are also restaurants that use local produce, with articles on display and information about the GeoPark.

Genbudo Park
Hexagonal basalt pillars, formed by volcanic activity, rise in Genbudo Park. At the front of the park stands the Genbudo Museum, where ores and fossils from around the world are collected.

Hasakari-iwa Rock
It is thought that a rock got caught between other rocks when the erosion from waves caused the ceiling of a cave to collapse. The word "hasakari"* means "hasamari" in the dialect of this district.

Yumura Onsen・Springhead "Arayu"
Yumura hot spring is known as the stage of "Yumechiyo diary" drama, the story of a woman who contacted leukemia from exposure to the atomic blast when she was still unborn. Spa towns in the mountains are shrouded in steam, a mystical and almost magical sight. "Arayu hot water" is a symbol of Yumura Onsen and reaches 98 degrees centigrade. You will see the locals and tourists boil boiled egg and vegetables in the hot water.

A gallery and a log house are used as a meeting place for conventions and educational sessions by various organizations. You can attend concerts here as well. In addition, the nearby beach features a snorkeling experience with an experienced instructor.

Was named "The Matsushima one thousand kans" from the promise made by the lord of Tottori, Tsunakiyo Ikeda to give one thousand kans of silver to whoever could move to his garden a specific pine tree and accompanying rocks he had observed while making a tour of the islands.

Amedaki
Amedaki waterfall has a height of 40 m, and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 most dramatic waterfalls because of the harmony of the rock surface and the resonance of the falls. Fresh green in spring, in fall the foliage warms to autumnal hues. In addition, people in the know say the water here creates beautiful skin call it the "water of beauty."
